Reviving Old Quotes Before the Holidays: The Pre-Thanksgiving Window for Home Projects
Homeowners want the house ready before guests arrive, which makes October and early November the best time to revisit stalled quotes for flooring, painting, and remodeling. Who to reach, when to send, and what to say.
How we work
Want to know what your own list is worth? Book a 15-minute strategy call and we'll map it out with you.
Reach out to stalled indoor project quotes in October and early November, while there is still time to finish before the holidays. Lead with a real install window, be honest about what fits, and offer a smaller first phase when the full project won't make it. Anyone who misses the deadline is your January schedule.
Every fall the same deadline shows up: "We want it done before everyone comes over." New floors, a fresh coat of paint, a guest bathroom that finally gets updated. Homeowners who got a quote in the spring and let it slide suddenly care again.
The window is short, and the contractors who reach out first get the jobs.
Who should you reach out to?
| Who | Why now | What to offer |
|---|---|---|
| Flooring quotes from the past year | New floors are the classic "before the holidays" project | An install date before Thanksgiving, or before the December holidays |
| Interior painting quotes | Quick to schedule, big visible change | A slot in the next few weeks |
| Bathroom and kitchen refreshes | Guests use these rooms the most | A smaller refresh now, the full remodel after the new year |
| Bigger remodels that stalled | Too big to finish now, but the planning isn't | A walkthrough now to lock in an early-year start |
| Customers who said "call me in the fall" | They told you when | Exactly what they asked for |
When should the messages go out?
Work backward from your own lead times. If a flooring job needs material ordered two weeks out plus a few days to install, a message in mid-November is already late for Thanksgiving. For most indoor trades the window runs from October into early November, and for the December holidays, mid-November at the latest.
If a project can't make it, say so plainly and offer a January date. That honesty is what gets you the job.
What should the messages say?
"Hi Erin, it's Matt from Oakline Floors. You asked about new floors for the living room this spring. We have an install window the week of November 9 if you want them in before Thanksgiving. Want me to hold it?"
"Hi Raj, it's Summit Remodeling. The full kitchen won't fit before the holidays, but we could do the backsplash and lighting now and the rest in January. Interested?"
"Hi Carla, it's Summit Remodeling. Your bathroom quote from March is still on file. Want to walk through it again this month so we can start right after the new year?"
How do you keep the schedule sane?
- Count real capacity first. Know how many jobs your crews can actually finish before the deadline, and stop offering dates once they are gone.
- Send in waves. A few dozen messages a day is easier to answer than the whole list at once.
- Never overpromise a date. A missed "before Thanksgiving" costs more goodwill than the job is worth.
- Book January on the same message. Many trades slow down after the holidays. Everyone who misses the cutoff can fill that gap.
Should you update the price?
If your costs moved, yes. Say so plainly and offer a quick visit to confirm measurements. Honesty about a changed number beats a surprise on install day.
Common questions
What if the quote is more than a year old?
It is still worth a message. Offer a fresh visit, since the measurements, the materials, or the price may have changed.
Does this work for outdoor projects?
Less so heading into winter in colder climates. For decks, siding, and exterior paint, use the same list to book spring work instead.
Should I offer a holiday discount?
Usually not. The deadline does the selling. If you want a sweetener, offer a guaranteed finish date or a small add-on at no charge.
Who can I contact?
People who did business with you or reached out to you first. Say who the message is from, honor every stop right away, and keep messages to reasonable hours in the customer's time zone. Rules vary by state, and this is not legal advice.
A note on how we work. Rekindle IQ reaches a business's past customers in that business's name and books the ready ones back onto its calendar. Every engagement is scoped on a strategy call. Nothing here is a promise of results, which vary with the list, the offer and the season.
